Allergy testing transition

Earlier this month, Intermountain Health transitioned some allergy laboratory testing from ARUP Laboratories to Intermountain Health's Central Laboratory in Murray, Utah. This change is part of our ongoing commitment to providing you with the highest-quality testing services. Intermountain Health Central Laboratory offers enhanced capabilities, faster turnaround times and expanded test offerings, which will allow us to continue delivering accurate and timely results for your patients.

Key changes for practitioners

  • Testing location: Allergy testing previously routed to ARUP is now performed in-house at the Intermountain Central Laboratory.

  • Ordering and resulting: There will be no change to the process of ordering or resulting in the testing.

  • Specimen volume requirements: The requirements for the top-10 requested labs are available below. You also can refer to the Front Range Test Directory for the full list, or contact Joseph Ibarra, Peaks Client Services, at 303-403-3319.

Specimen volume requirements

Central Lab requires slightly more specimen volume than ARUP. Check the Epic procedure catalog for updated volumes. Below are the Top 10 allergy tests being sent to Central Lab.
