Calling all APPs!

Heather Austin, PA-C, Saint Joseph’s APP Council chair, recently shared with us her thoughts about elevating and inspiring her colleagues in anticipation of APP Appreciation Day on Sept. 24.

“Serving as the APP Council Chair has been both rewarding and eye-opening,” she said. “The role has brought unexpected challenges, especially in navigating system-wide changes and advocating for APPs during times of transition. It’s also been a privilege to amplify the voices of our APPs and help shape initiatives that directly impact their work and well-being.”

Strengthening APP outreach: “With ongoing changes across the hospital, APPs are facing increased uncertainty and lack of visibility. We're prioritizing outreach to ensure APPs feel supported and valued. As new service lines are introduced, we’re hopeful this will bring fresh opportunities and attract new APPs to join our team.”

Council member recognition: “I’m incredibly grateful for the dedication and insight of our council members. Their collaboration and commitment have been essential in driving forward our initiatives. Special thanks to Ryan Merson, PA, Caylee Irvin, PA, Neko Upson, CNM, Kati Gersman, PA, and Whitney Anderson, NP, for their leadership and ongoing support—this work wouldn’t be possible without them.”
