Consult-liaison psychiatry at Saint Joseph
Saint Joseph is ready to launch the next phase of Intermountain’s Front Range Consult Liaison Psychiatry plan. The goal is to create a simplified and uniform approach to psychiatric consultation across the Front Range hospitals, while maintaining each hospital’s Behavioral Health pathway for crisis assessment, safety planning, substance use support and disposition needs.
What's changing
The model will pair psychiatric oversight from Calmante Health, led by Dr. Rebecca Thomas, with APP support across the Front Range hospitals. The CL Psychiatry pathway is intended for medical-psychiatric consultation needs, such as delirium/altered mental status, catatonia, psychosis or mania, complex medication management, agitation medication recommendations, complex withdrawal, diagnostic clarification and other medically complex psychiatric presentations.
Locum coverage through Dr. Rob Humberstone will end on Friday, Oct. 30.
What's not
How you use and access your Behavioral Health team! The Behavioral Health team will continue consult response for crisis, safety, suicide risk, and involuntary hold assessment. They will remain as the responding team for acute scores on the ASQ, EPDS, and TAPS 3+ screeners.
Timeline and Transition

She is passionate about building a consult-liaison psychiatry service that integrates psychiatric and medical care to treat the whole patient. Before becoming a physician, Dr. Thomas worked as a neonatal, surgical, transplant, and flight nurse, and later as an Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Thomas enjoys collaborating with staff across all disciplines, including physicians, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, social workers, case managers, and support staff. She values each team member’s perspective and believes that listening, open communication, and shared treatment planning create more compassionate, coordinated care. Her approach centers on understanding each patient as a person, involving families and caregivers, and supporting the hospital team. She strives to bring warmth, dignity, and thoughtful psychiatric care to patients and families during difficult times.
Emmanuel Mensah Nti MSN, PMHNP-C, FNP-C- is a dual-certified Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience across hospital medicine, acute and post-acute care, and behavioral health.
