Four Lutheran nurses nominated for top honors

Amazing. Fierce. A true leader and a shining star. Congrats and thank you to these four nurses, nominated by members of Lutheran’s medical staff to receive the Nurse of the Year Award! The winner will be announced and all nominees will be celebrated at the Annual Medical Staff Meeting & Dinner in October.

Jane Bedin, RN, General Surgery: “Jane makes patients feel comfortable and cared for, even asking them what their favorite music is to listen to before surgery. She is a true leader, taking on the responsibility of ensuring the orthopedic trauma service runs smoothly everyday, coordinating with medical reps, discussing surgical plans and improving scheduling efficiency.”

Kim Daratany, RN, ICU: “Kim is an amazing heart nurse who is intelligent, reliable, and brings a positive energy to the ICU. She is always reading and interested in new evidence that can improve the care of her patients.”

Angie Hutcherson, RN, Surgical ICU: “Angie is one of our most experienced and trusted SICU nurses. Her loyalty and commitment to her patients has impressed me for many years. Her clinical care is reliably excellent, she is a fierce advocate for her patients and is deeply invested in Lutheran and its people.” Ed note: All true! But as a previous winner, she is ineligible this year.

Shanee Williams, LPN, Intermediate Care: “Shanee has an infectious energy. She advocates for her patients and instantly makes them feel better with her smile and positivity. She is an excellent communicator and a dedicated member of the team. If you’re ever having a bad day, she will turn it around. She is the shining star of the 5th floor!”

We appreciate the commitment to excellence of all these nominees and our entire nursing staff. Thank you for your partnership!
