Joint Venture Update: Intermountain Health and AdventHealth Planning Moves Forward

In July, Intermountain Health announced plans to form a joint venture with AdventHealth in Colorado’s Front Range, and both organizations signed the definitive agreement on Aug. 5. While caregivers in Western Colorado and Montana will see no changes to clinical operations because of this partnership, here’s an overview of what’s happening across the enterprise.

About the joint venture
The joint venture brings together Intermountain’s Good Samaritan, Lutheran, and Platte Valley hospitals with AdventHealth’s Avista, Castle Rock, Littleton, Parker, and Porter hospitals, along with their associated clinics, urgent care centers, and emergency departments. AdventHealth will serve as managing partner for day-to-day operations, while both organizations maintain ownership. Saint Joseph Hospital, its affiliated clinics, and Mount Saint Vincent will remain part of Intermountain.

Intermountain remains committed to the long-term success of the Peaks Region and will continue serving patients across the Front Range, Western Colorado, and Montana.

Planning is underway
Integration planning began Aug. 31, and the joint venture is expected to close in early 2027. In late September, AdventHealth leaders held introductory town halls at the three transitioning hospitals, with more sessions planned later this year.

Regulatory review continues
Federal Trade Commission review is still pending. Until the joint venture closes, Intermountain and AdventHealth must continue operating as separate organizations. Unless you have been formally asked to participate in planning efforts, please continue focusing on your daily work, your patients, and one another.

Staying informed
Updates will continue as new information becomes available. Follow progress on the joint venture information page or submit questions to help shape future communications. AdventHealth has also launched a caregiver transition site that serves as a central hub for updates, upcoming milestones, and town hall schedules for those expected to move to AdventHealth.
