Operational Readiness Owners to help Epic expansion
By George Scott, MD, PhD, Associate Chief Medical Information Officer, Peaks Region
As part of the Epic Journey project, numerous decisions and workflow enhancements have been made to ensure we continue to deliver high-quality care to our patients. Many of these decisions required extensive review and input from multiple stakeholders, and the rationale behind them may not always be immediately clear.
To help leaders and caregivers better understand both the “What?” and the “Why?” behind these changes, Intermountain has designated Operational Readiness Owners for various service and clinical lines. OROs will facilitate communication and discussions about upcoming changes.
An ORO is a member of an Epic workgroup responsible for communicating and coordinating key Epic decisions and workflow improvements within their designated service lines. Their role is to ensure that caregivers and leaders receive timely, relevant and actionable information about changes affecting their areas.
As the ORO for the Peaks inpatient provider groups from the Physician Advisory Council, I will serve as your primary point of contact for any change decisions impacting multiple service lines before, during and after the Epic Expansion on Saturday, Sept. 6. Additionally, each service line will have a designated ORO to support role-specific or department-specific changes.
