Saint Joseph receives national recognition for quality
Saint Joseph has won its first-ever Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Award from Vizient. We’re one of 16 hospitals across the enterprise to receive the award and the only one in the Complex Care Medical Center category to be recognized.
We’re also the only Peaks Region hospital to be recognized and the first Peaks hospital to achieve top-decile quality numbers.
“We’re in the 93.8 percentile on mortality, which is the highest we’ve ever been, with a mortality index of 0.29. I’ve never seen it so low!” said Chris Vittum, Saint Joseph director of Clinical Excellence. “I just want to say ‘thank you’ to our physicians and teams for providing such great care to our patients and families. MiM, National Jewish, Saint Joseph, everyone is coming together and doing really great work for our patients.”
Vizient is the nation’s largest healthcare performance improvement company, and its Quality and Accountability Study measures performance across six domains: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and variation in care.
Thank you and well done to everyone who, according to even the most rigorous standards, provides our patients with the safest, highest-quality care in the Denver market.
