Unifying our identity: Intermountain Health Flight & Ambulance Services

We’re always looking for ways to bring greater clarity, consistency and connection to the care we provide. That’s why our medical transport programs are coming together under one name: Intermountain Health Flight & Ambulance Services.

For decades, teams like MedX, Life Flight, Classic Air Medical, Platte Valley Ambulance, Cassia Paramedics and HELP Flight have delivered lifesaving care across our communities. Each name has a strong and trusted local reputation. However, having multiple names for our transport services can lead to confusion, make communication harder, and create legal and operational challenges.

Intermountain Health Flight & Ambulance Services follows the same structure as other Intermountain service lines, like Heart Services and Cancer Services. It is descriptive and functional, clearly communicating the work being done and who we are.

Because it is a joint venture between several organizations, CareFlight of the Rockies will retain its name. All other programs will now be called Intermountain Health Flight & Ambulance Services. This change strengthens our shared identity as Intermountain Health and reinforces the power of working together — across teams, regions and state lines.

The transition will occur in phases during the next several years and includes updating uniforms, aircraft, vehicles, signage and printed materials with the new department name and the look and feel of the Intermountain brand.

“While our name is changing, everything that defines us stays the same: our people, our commitment to excellence, and our strong legacy of service,” said Adam Hornung, vice president of Medical Transport, Telehealth, Clinical Command Center, and Outreach. “Patients and partners will continue to receive the high-quality, responsive care they’ve always known, now delivered under a unified identity that reflects our singular commitment to our mission.”

Clinicians and caregivers should start using Intermountain Health Flight & Ambulance Services when referring to our medical transport services.
