Exciting things happening at Saint Joseph Hospital
By Amy Blasing, Saint Joseph Hospital President
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and were able to take some time to rest and recharge with family and friends. If you were at the hospital during the holiday taking care of our patients and supporting our care teams, I can’t thank you enough!
I want to share some exciting updates related to growth and expansion of the Saint Joseph Medical Staff and services.
Saint Joseph Hospital recently held a ribbon cutting event at the newly expanded beautiful cancer, breast surgery and breast imaging center which opened in its new location, bringing the majority of our oncology services under one roof. Recruitment of Radiation Oncologists is ongoing, with an offer made to one candidate and several additional candidates being interviewed.
Surgeons from Saint Joseph’s Downtown Surgery Specialist clinic, Dr. Noelle Bertelson and Dr. Jordan Wlodarcyzk, are working to pursue an NAPRC accreditation to position the hospital’s colorectal surgery program as a center of excellence for this region.
In the Urology and Men’s Health specialty, Dr. Katie Scott has been bringing a significant number of Aquablation robotic surgery cases to the hospital to provide this innovative and non-invasive treatment to many patients. A second urologist is also being recruited to join Dr. Scott’s practice.
Partnerships with community spine surgeons Dr. Philip York and Dr. Woosik Chung are ramping up and will be bringing more patients to the hospital.
Additionally, we recently executed an employment agreement with Dr. Eric Liu. Dr. Liu is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in neuroendocrine cancer who will begin seeing patients at Saint Joseph Hospital in June 2026. Dr. Liu is nationally known in this specialized field of medicine for providing cutting-edge treatments for neuroendocrine tumors, including lung, bowel, pancreas, stomach, liver, adrenal, and many more.
And efforts continue in many specialty areas including cardiothoracic surgery, urogynecology, oncology, rheumatology, neurosurgery/neurospine, and plastic reconstructive surgery, and we will continue to keep you informed as these opportunities progress.
I am so grateful for your dedication, expertise, and compassion. You make Saint Joseph Hospital a special place. My door is always open, and I want to hear your questions and ideas about how we can continue to build on our culture of excellence and better serve our patients together.
