Jason Johnson, DO, Announced as Incoming St. James CMO

Jason Johnson, DO, has accepted the role of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Intermountain Health St. James Hospital, effective August 2026. 

Dr. Johnson is already a trusted leader and caregiver at St. James, serving as Trauma Medical Director and a member of our General Surgery team. He will continue in these roles while taking on CMO responsibilities, bringing continuity, clinical expertise, and strong relationships to this leadership position. 

Since joining St. James in March 2024, he has earned respect for his collaborative leadership, commitment to quality and safety, and ability to unite caregivers around shared goals that improve patient outcomes. 

He has served in other leadership roles with Intermountain Health, to include Senior Medical Director for Surgical Specialties and Digestive Health for the Peaks Region. In that role, he has served surgical specialties across eight facilities in Colorado and Montana, strengthening alignment between hospital, region, and system priorities. 

A board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Johnson is a veteran of the U.S. Army and continues to serve as a Captain in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He is also recognized nationally for leadership in quality improvement, strategy, and surgeon development.
