New Helicopter, One Team: Flight & Ambulance Services Takes Off

There’s a new helicopter on the St. Vincent helipad. A new Intermountain Health aircraft is now in service and already responding to calls across our region.

The new helicopter is faster than the one we flew before, so our crews can reach patients sooner. For a farming family, a rural hospital or an accident scene, those minutes can change outcomes. Every crew has trained on the new aircraft and is taking calls.

Fully Intermountain

As of October, our flight and ambulance program is fully operated by Intermountain Health. Our pilots and mechanics have joined our flight nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists and communications specialists as employed Intermountain caregivers. That means one standard for safety, training and quality; closer collaboration across the team; and the support of Intermountain’s larger program for coverage, maintenance and growth.

One name across our system

This is part of a larger effort to unite Intermountain’s medical transport programs, including HELP Flight, Life Flight, MedX and Classic Air Medical, as Intermountain Health Flight & Ambulance Services. The rebrand will roll out in phases, so you may still see HELP Flight on some aircraft for now. Please use the new name when talking about our transport services.

The same trusted care

Since HELP Flight first took off from St. Vincent in 1979, our caregivers have carried seriously ill and injured patients across Montana, northern Wyoming and the western Dakotas to the care they need. That team is still here, 24/7, 365 days a year.

Thank you to our flight and ambulance caregivers for adapting to so much change while keeping patients first. And to our pilots and mechanics: welcome to the Intermountain family.
