New Referrals Kit Now Available
To support consistent and accurate referral management across our clinics, we’re introducing the new referrals toolkit. This resource centralizes the most important guidance and job aids that caregivers rely on when placing, processing, and tracking referrals. Practice managers can use this toolkit to reinforce standardized workflows, reduce variability, and help teams work with greater confidence.
What you need to know
The tool kit brings together step-by-step instructions and quick links for the most common referral processes, including:
Clarifying the differences between internal, incoming, and outgoing referral classes.
Placing referral orders, including pediatric panels for Primary Children’s Health and ambulatory scenarios.
Managing incoming and outgoing referrals, including how to transcribe external orders and share information with external providers.
Closing the loop through the IH Clinic Referrals Tracking Report.
Attaching coverage and authorization documentation to referral records.
Understanding referral work queues through quick-start guides and definitions.
Self-guided eLearning modules that reinforce process expectations.
These resources are designed to reduce errors, improve turnaround times, and support a consistent patient and provider experience across sites.
How you can support adoption
Encourage caregivers to bookmark and reference the toolkit when questions arise. Reinforce its use during huddles, onboarding, and workflow refreshers, especially for teams that regularly manage referrals. Leaders can also use the toolkit to uncover training gaps or workflow issues, leading to targeted coaching or structured training programs for caregivers.
Bookmark the referrals tool kit on MyIntermountain for a quick reference whenever you need it.
NOTE: Community Connect sites won't implement this tool, process, or workflow.
