IMED APP Representative Candidate Statement: Erick Howe, DNP AG-ACNP
I am grateful for the opportunity to be considered as the APP representative to the Medical Executive Committee at Intermountain Medical Center.
Intermountain Medical Center has been my professional home since opening day in October 2007. I have had the opportunity of working in a variety of roles over the years—including phlebotomist, ICU registered nurse, and now Critical Care APP. These experiences have given me a broad perspective on the incredible work that happens here at our medical center, and a deep appreciation for the teams and disciplines that make our work possible.
One of my interests is supporting APP well-being. While our mission is to help others live the healthiest lives possible, we must also ensure we are able to do the same for ourselves. For me, well-being for APPs is closely tied to maintaining mutual respect among APP colleagues, fostering strong and collaborative relationships with our physician partners, and being leaders in our specialties. Since September 2024, I have served as the Advanced Practice Director of Critical Care at IMED, working closely with APPs and physicians across multiple services. Through this role, I have seen firsthand how effective communication, trust, and multidisciplinary collaboration directly improve both patient care and provider experience.
If selected to serve on the MEC, my goals would include fostering ongoing and open dialogue between services to strengthen multidisciplinary care, encouraging strong APP and physician partnerships grounded in mutual respect, and influencing the overall well-being of our APPs.
Thank you for considering me to represent our outstanding team of APPs at IMED. It would be a privilege to serve.
