IMED APP Representative Candidate Statement: Krystal Porter, DNP, APRN, AGNP-BC

Thank you for this nomination. I would be honored to serve as the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Representative on the IMED Medical Executive Committee to ensure that the perspectives of frontline, team-based care are represented in hospital leadership. I am committed to representing APP perspectives and collaborating with physician and administrative leaders to advance patient safety, quality, and professionalism, while leveraging the full scope of APP expertise and aligning strategy with clinical practice.

My career has been dedicated to hospital-based medicine, beginning as a CNA, then registered nurse at Intermountain Medical Center when it opened in 2007. This foundation has shaped my commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and supporting care teams in complex, inpatient environments.

I also bring 8 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, including 5 years as APP Director of Hospital Medicine for the Canyons Region. In my clinical role at Intermountain Medical Center and Hospital at Home, I am closely involved in day-to-day patient management, care coordination, and operational workflows, which gives me a practical understanding of how policies impact both patients and providers. While serving as Advanced Practice Director of Hospital Medicine, I collaborate closely with APPs, physician leaders, and operational teams across multiple hospitals and service lines. This experience has provided me with a broad understanding of the clinical, operational, and professional factors that impact APP practice, including hiring, credentialing, privileging, scope alignment, and team integration.

By serving on the MEC, my objective would be to actively contribute to inclusive decision-making processes that advance patient outcomes, improve operational efficiency, and foster connection and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Thank you.
