Media interest surrounding Medicaid cuts and Platte Valley Hospital
By Noah Knisely, MBA, Platte Valley Hospital President
We are aware of media interest surrounding Senator Hickenlooper’s report on Medicaid cuts and the potential closure of nine hospitals in Colorado. Please know that Platte Valley Hospital is not in jeopardy of closing.
We do acknowledge, as most other health systems have, a concern about the future of Medicaid funding across our country. However, it’s critical to note that we are a resilient organization that is fully committed to our community, our caregivers and the patients we serve. We continue to monitor federal and state budget proposals to assess the potential operational impacts of any reductions to federal Medicaid funding and Medicaid rates in Colorado.
Medicaid plays a critical role in our ability to care for the most vulnerable in our communities. We will continue to work with policymakers across the political spectrum to ensure that we can best deliver on our mission to help people live their healthiest lives by supporting this essential government program.
As leaders, we acknowledge that articles and stories like this can be challenging and distracting. Our request for our caregivers is that you remain focused on carrying out our important work and mission. Our patients and communities rely on you for compassion, healing and excellent care.
Again, as mentioned above, Platte Valley is not in jeopardy of closing.
Thank you for all your dedication to our shared work. We are grateful to you and all you do for our patients.
